Another concern is that options are also limited as some careers are not advisable for people in recovery.

Below are seven jobs that you can consider if you are looking to work from home while in recovery.

Virtual Assistant

Addiction RecoveryWith many business owners also starting to work from home, there is an increasing demand for virtual assistants. Virtual assistants help out in a variety of office tasks like scheduling meetings, sorting out emails, phone calls, social media tasks, and more. You don’t really need a lot of experience to apply as long as you can manage to do these tasks efficiently and you have a computer and an internet connection at home.

Being a VA an excellent opportunity for people in recovery to do from home and make money without having to leave their house. You can work as much or as little as you want, on your own schedule, and take care of your family at the same time. There are micro job sites like FancyHands or TaskRabbit if you want to start part-time. If you want to work with clients directly, you can find job listings on sites like Upwork.

Social Media Assistant

If you want to stay connected with the world and make money from home, then becoming a social media assistant could be your perfect fit. You can do this job from anywhere in the world as long as there is internet access. It’s also flexible so you can set your own hours.

As a social media assistant, you will help manage all aspects of social media accounts such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, etc., by posting content and responding to comments or messages received through these channels. This job requires minimal training or experience so it's perfect if you're going back into the workforce. You can take free courses online offered by Google, Facebook, and other universities to learn more about social media marketing and increase your chances of getting hired.

Transcriptionist

Addiction RecoveryTranscriptionists are responsible for converting spoken word into written text. It's an easy job to do from home and it can be done in your own time. A transcriptionist does not require any formal education or training. You will need a computer, internet connection, and great listening and typing skills.

There are many transcription websites that you can apply to even without experience. With these websites, you can usually choose the number of hours you want to work. This is great if you’re not yet ready to make a full-time commitment but you want to make the first step to earning your own money again.

Remote English Teacher

You don’t need to be an experienced English teacher to apply as an English coach for people looking to practice their English speaking skills. There are websites that will pay you around $10 per hour to have video conversations with students in English. As long as you have an internet connection, you can apply.

Sell On Online Selling Platforms

Selling online is a great opportunity because it's flexible and you can do it from home. Nowadays, you can even sell without having to buy inventory through dropshipping. Dropshipping is when you create an online store with items for sale, however, instead of keeping the products in stock yourself, you only order when you make a sale. The supplier will then ship the product directly to the buyer. You can gain profit even without having to deal with ordering the products, storage, and shipping.

Start Your Own Blog or Vlog

Creating your own blog or vlog is an excellent way to spend your time and make some extra cash at the same time. With a little creativity, anyone can create their very own profitable blog or vlog. All you need is an idea for your post topics- something you're passionate about – and post them on free platforms like WordPress or YouTube. You can make money through affiliate links or Google advertising.

App Tester

You can apply as an app tester to review apps or websites that are in development. Websites like Userfeel and UserTesting usually pay around $10 for a 20-minute test. You will be asked to record a video of your screen while giving a review, or in some cases, you can answer surveys and be paid accordingly. This is not, however, a regular gig but more of a means to earn additional income.

As a person in recovery, don’t be discouraged when it comes to getting back on your feet and finding your next job. There are jobs that you can explore even from the comforts of your own home. You can also network with other people in recovery in the area who may be able to help you find work or give advice about your job search.

If you or a loved one is struggling with substance abuse, help is available.
