Intensive Outpatient Program Prepares Client for Community Life
An outpatient drug treatment program has many similarities with an inpatient drug rehab program. Just like an inpatient program, an outpatient drug rehab offers individual and group therapy sessions, support groups, twelve-step programs, family involvement when appropriate, and classes about the disease of addiction. In an outpatient drug rehab, you will also be asked to stay sober while engaging in therapy and to participate fully in their treatment plans.

The main difference is that with inpatient rehab, you will have to live 24 hours a day within a therapeutic environment. On the contrary, if you participate in an outpatient drug addiction treatment, you will not be required to live in a long-term drug rehab facility. In an outpatient rehab program, you can still engage in daily activities while receiving treatment. This type of flexible treatment schedule is less disruptive if you still need to go to work, live in your home, and carry out your family obligations.

Outpatient programs can be more effective if you have a strong independent streak. For some people, staying sober while remaining independent helps them feel stronger and more in control of their lives. A thorough evaluation of your needs and lifestyle can help determine whether an outpatient program or inpatient drug rehab is appropriate for you.

What Goes On In Outpatient Drug Treatment Programs

Some individuals start with an outpatient drug treatment program while others follow up on inpatient treatment with outpatient services. Either way, participating in group and individual psychotherapy sessions will likely consume the largest portion of time in an outpatient drug rehab program.

Many programs provide options for daytime, weekend or evening sessions that are flexible to your schedule. The support and insight received during psychotherapy will provide an understanding of the challenges faced in recovery and provide tips and techniques for coping without the help of drugs.

At Anaheim Lighthouse, we offer 12-step and other support groups within the facility to complement your therapy. An important part of our outpatient drug rehab is the education we impart about the disease of addiction, which usually comes in the form of classroom situations. We also offer a variety of therapeutic options to meet your individual needs.

Our Holistic Approach to Outpatient Drug Rehab

Because our approach is to treat the whole person and not just your addiction, Anaheim Lighthouse offers a full range of services within our outpatient drug rehab program. As a holistic drug rehab center, we treat every aspect of an individual’s disease, from physical to emotional to spiritual and psychological.

Dedicated to the long-term recovery of our clients, we want to make sure that you are able to live life equipped with a foundation for sobriety and the ability to make healthy choices. During our outpatient program for substance abuse, we point the way to community resources you can use for support and continued good health throughout and after rehab.

We encourage attendance at 12-step meetings and other support groups that will provide valuable peer insight and encouragement. We will make sure you are connected to doctors, dentists, therapists, and other health care professionals that will assure continued good health and well-being. Our goal is to help you avoid falling into old habits that could result in relapse so you can lead a healthy and productive life after rehab.
