If you or someone you love is addicted to painkillers, it's important to be able to spot a fake pill quickly and get help before it's too late.

In this blog post, we will discuss some of the ways to spot fake pain pills. We will also provide

tips on how to protect yourself from counterfeit medications. Here are 5 signs to look out for when trying to determine if a pill is fake.

1) The Price Is Too Low

One of the easiest ways to spot fake pain pills is by their price. It is not difficult to find the price of branded and generic pills online. If you come across a price that is significantly lower than what you would normally expect to pay, the pill is likely fake.

This is a common problem for patients turning to online websites and social media to buy their medications. Many of these online sites are not legitimate and sell fake or counterfeit pills.

You may be duped into thinking that the pills were sourced from a different country that's why the price is so low. However, this could not be further from the truth. These pills are most likely made in a makeshift laboratory with little to no regulation.

2) Poor-Quality Packaging

Did the pills come in tacky packaging? Were they shipped in a plastic baggie with no label? If so, this is another sign that the pills could be fake.

Reputable pharmaceutical companies take great pride in their product packaging. They use high-quality materials and include detailed information about the medication on the packaging.

If you come across pills that are packaged poorly and do not have the manufacturer's information, there is a good chance that they are fake.

3) Uneven Shapes and Colors

Spot Fake Pain Pills

Counterfeit pills like fake Oxy or fake Xanax often have uneven shapes and colors. This is because they are not made in regulated laboratories and are not subject to the same quality control standards as legitimate pills.

If you notice that the pills you have do not look uniform in shape or color, this is a cause for concern. Look at the pills closely and compare them to photos of the real thing online. If they do not match, they are probably fake.

4) Rough Edges

Another dead giveaway that a pill is fake is if it has rough edges. This is because the pills are not cut correctly during the manufacturing process.

Real pills are cut with precision and have smooth edges. If you notice that the pills you have are jagged or uneven, they are most likely fake.

5) Incorrect or Unclear Pill Imprint

All pills that are manufactured by pharmaceutical companies have an imprint code. This is a unique identifier that is used to track the pill throughout the manufacturing and distribution process.

If you come across pills that do not have an imprint code or unclear markings, this is a major red flag. It's also important to note that some fake pills will have an imprint code that does not match the medication.

For example, a fake Oxycodone pill may have the imprint code for a different medication altogether. This is done in an attempt to fool people into thinking they are taking the real thing.

If you are unsure about the imprint code on a pill, you can use an online tool to look it up. Imprint codes can also be verified by calling the pharmaceutical company that manufactures the medication.

Avoid Dangerous Fake Opioids and Pain Killers

The best way to avoid fake opioids and painkillers is by only purchasing medications from a reputable source. If you are buying pills online, make sure you do your research and only buy from a credible site.

It's also important to be aware of the signs discussed in this blog post. If you come across pills that exhibit any of these signs, you should be wary about them.

One of the most dangerous things about fake pills is that you never know what is actually in them. They could be laced with dangerous chemicals or substances that could be harmful to your health.

There have been numerous reports of fake pain pills like counterfeit OxyContin that actually contain synthetic opioid fentanyl. This has caused many overdoses and even deaths.

So, be careful out there and only purchase pills from a trusted source. If you have any doubts about the authenticity of a pill, it's best to err on the side of caution and throw it away.
