Benzodiazepine addiction treatment is a particularly challenging process because of the intense, addictive nature of these drugs, the most common of which include Valium, Xanax, Diazepam, Librium and Klonipin. They have muscle relaxant, anti-anxiety, anticonvulsant and sleep-inducing properties that make them especially effective in treating anxiety, insomnia, muscle spasms and agitation. They’re generally viewed as safe for short-term usage, but if used for more than three or four weeks, tolerance is likely to set in, due to escalation of use. Individuals commonly increase dosages to assure prolonged effects and to avoid withdrawal symptoms. With larger and more frequent doses, the body continually adapts to the drug and requires more in order to experience the same results. Benzodiazepine withdrawal is characterized by insomnia, agitation and irritability, high anxiety and tension, tremors, profuse perspiration, panic attacks, severe nausea, and heart palpitations, calling for professional assistance when going through detoxification.

Treatment for Benzo Addiction Effective with Social Support

When seeking treatment for benzo addiction, individuals should consider that detoxification may be required. A thorough medical evaluation determines the need for detox and will provide the starting point for a treatment plan. Because the withdrawal symptoms for benzos can be extremely distressing, professional assistance from individuals with specific experience in benzo dependence is particularly helpful during detox and throughout treatment, as treatment may vary from drug to drug. In other words, benzo addiction treatment (which includes Xanax addiction treatment, as Xanax is a benzodiazepine) will likely be somewhat different from heroin addiction treatment, opiate addiction treatment, or cocaine addiction treatment.

In addition to whatever medical care is indicated in a person’s treatment plan, those abusing benzos often require individual and family therapy, as well as strong social support. Recovering in the midst of others facing the same challenge can be comforting and particularly supportive, so residential rehab may be a good option. Relapse is considered a significant risk with benzo abuse, so an after-care program that reinforces the recovery principles gained in treatment is advisable.

Our Approach to Benzodiazepine Addiction Treatment Is Comprehensive

The Anaheim Lighthouse approach to benzodiazepine addiction treatment is comprehensive, with a complete spectrum of services and therapies. We provide a detox program that helps take benzo abusers through the challenging symptoms of withdrawal – in some cases medication management is used to protect the brain and help ease the severe withdrawal symptoms that typically accompany benzo addiction. We also offer residential treatment, partial hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Programs, . Our professional and compassionate staff are available around the clock to assure that our clients are comfortable and completely safe.

The disease of addiction, including alcohol addiction treatment, is addressed at Anaheim Lighthouse. We have experience in all forms of drug addiction treatment. In addition to treating benzo addiction, we offer marijuana addiction treatment, meth addiction treatment, and treatment for other common drug addictions.

The Lighthouse is a completely magical place where dreams are fulfilled and hope is brought to completion. If I were shopping around I would want to honestly understand a few things first. Do they allow you to live a life independently structured where freedom and choice is a vital part of the program. Yes, they do. The housing style is very accommodating with a few clients per apartment. Yes, my apartment holds five clients and the area is hardly frequented by staff. It feels like home, is equipped with Netflix and there are no limitations on bedtime hours or ability to fellowship with one another in this environment on our own time. They allow you to have your cellular device while in the program as well. The food is outstanding and very wholesome; the kitchen is available and stocked with snacks twenty four hours a day. Family and friends can visit you on Saturdays and each weekend they allow you to travel to Walmart and shop for your own needs as well. The majority of the above is based on comfortability, we just want to know if we can make it in a reasonable environment. This is to give you assurance that it is completely desirable and far above competitor locations. On the recovery side of things we are given the option to acquire a sponsor allowing you visits any day of the week to meet and work on you 12 steps if you so choose. Otherwise groups are held daily and for about an hour each group. Every moment in between is yours to hang out and fellowship, kick back on some Netflix or exercise. We love playing games as well and ping pong is also a big hit here. Give yourself a chance to recover in this magical place. What makes it magical is the staff members. For instance Mr. John Brown has impacted my life tremendously with his testimony and method of teaching, Mr. Rob (R.O.B) with his heart felt leadership style and Edmond who brings out the truth with his down to earth messages cutting sharper than any two edged sword. I’m thankful that they all played a part in my recovery and I wouldn’t have it any other way. My only hope is that you by viewing this review, give them a chance to help save your life; making drastic changes that will impact your recovery journey forever. As John Brown would say, “even a bird with a broken wing has a song to sing”. So let’s hear your story! *Images Included: Billy L.
